Cherokee Cycle Park or CCP as it has become to be known is an area of trails in South Texas. Situated within a vast 11,000 acre estate there was approximately twenty six miles of trails that were available to be used. Due to legal matter Cherokee Cycle Park is no longer open for business, which is a great shame as before these legal matters the trails were open for a variety of users including all terrain vehicles (ATV), mountain bikes, horses and even remote controlled vehicles. The estate was well maintained before its closure with clear labeling of the trails showing who could use the different tracks. The difficulty of the trails was also clear to see by all users of the park.
Cherokee cycle park encouraged camping within the park and certain facilities were available. Additional amenities were available for hire, such as water hook ups, barbeque facilities and even vehicle and bike washing stations.
Prices for the park ranged from $10 – $20 for a day with children under 12 free, encouraging the use of the park by families.
Cherokee Cycle Park was shut on January 21st 2010 as it has been hit with a Force Majeure. This is a French phrase meaning superior force. This was in the form of relatives that wanted the land for their own use. It was thought by many that they wished to require the estate back so that they could realise the monetary worth of the park by selling it.

what a complete shame about cherokee. we always had a phenomenal time on the four-wheeler trails, and visits from the cattle were cool in the camping area. it’s such an awesome place to have a family weekend getaway and it’s always fun watching the little youngsters learn to ride. a pox on the absentee family members who showed up and ruined several hundred lives! thank you, Mr. Ferrari, for many wonderful times spent on YOUR property. we hope to see you again in the very near future out there in milano.
This was the best place in central TX to ride, SAD, SAD, SAD!!!
Get it together family and reopen, we need it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a serious bummer. I used to take my kids there 2-3x per month. I’d typically go on the weekends I didn’t have them. It was by far the best place to go riding/camping in the area. It is such a shame that it is no longer open. If they want to sell the place, tell them to hurry the hell up. I’m sure there are loads of people that would be willing to pool together, co-op and buy it from them just to keep it open.
I am in the military and was thinking about taking my wife and kids down there and was looking forward to doing so after we redeployed. We are all hoping the park opens back up.
What a complete tragedy! Cherokee was the best riding area in Central Texas to take the family. Great atmosphere for the kids. Safety conscious and the trails were beautifully marked and maintained. What a loss for the area!

With the festival season approaching as fast as the daffodils are finally beginning to flower what are the items that you should pack to take on your journey into those unpredictable festival fields.
There is of course items, that everybody either remembers to take, or purposefully risks leaving the safe haven of their car without. Publicity has been so great regarding wet festivals particularly Glastonbury weather unpredictability, that everybody knows that wellies being one of those items. If the weather is looking promising and you are a Glastonbury regular everyone knows that Millets will be prepared even if you are not. Of course they will charge you lots for the privilege. This is the price you pay for convenience.
So what items actually make your life at festivals that little bit less primitive? If you are someone that likes your sleep, then an eye mask alternatively called a sleep mask may be very useful. Even blindfolds could be used There is nothing worse than waking up in a tent at 5:00am having only had a few hours sleep because the sun has come up. Like wise the noise at festivals can become a real irritant when trying to sleep so earplugs are another item than can be added to your pocket to take.
There are course so many different items that you can take to music festivals this summer but hopefully these two little ideas will make your experience a little more rested.
